Subletting Your Office Space
A company will tend to respond to hard times by trying to increase sales but this is not the only way to survive difficult periods. Often reducing operating costs is the best way to return to profitability.
When a company is in hard times it may require less staff and less operating space. So why not translate this space in to profit and rent to someone who can make use of it.
With so many different businesses operating in the UK it is amazing what others will pay for. It is even easy to rent car parking spaces if you have no use for them.
Of course sometimes, office space may only be idle for short periods of time- this is the case for businesses where work may be seasonal or perhaps where the location may need to change regularly. But there will be other businesses looking to rent office space from you for short periods of time.
If you can throw in additional services with the office (and to some extent create a serviced or managed office), you may be able to add some real value.
If you can't rent out idle office space perhaps you can think of some other uses for it. Perhaps you could create partitioned sales centres within a call centre, or quiet rooms for staff looking to concentrate. Conversely perhaps you could use the space to provide entertainment or a rest area for employees during breaks.
